MLA Prasad Abbayya unveils Srikanth Poojari’s Criminal History, Says BJP is Trying to Save a Criminal

Hubballi: MLA Prasad Abbayya has accused that Srikanth Poojari, arrested in connection with the 1992 Rama Janma Bhoomi violent protest case, is a criminal and was a rowdysheeter involved in 16 cases, including Matka and illegal sale of liquor. He finds it unfortunate that the BJP is attempting to save and support such a criminal.

Speaking to reporters after releasing documents, Abbayya stated that the BJP is playing politics in this case, trying to inject a communal angle. He believes the BJP is creating controversy as the Lok Sabha elections approach rapidly. According to Abbayya, the BJP consistently generates such controversies, polarizing people along religious and caste lines and provoking sentiments.

Abbayya argued that Poojari’s arrest was routine police work, emphasizing that law enforcement always aims to resolve long-pending cases. He questioned why the previous BJP government did not withdraw the case if they are so concerned about Poojari’s arrest. According to Abbayya, the BJP exploits such workers to their advantage, keeping cases alive and utilizing them to garner votes whenever such issues arise.

Responding to a question about him allegedly trying to save the accused in the Old Hubballi riot case, Abbayya clarified that he never advocated for saving the accused. He asserted that they demanded the release of innocent individuals mistakenly arrested by the police, not the actual culprits.
